HANOI, Vietnam, Oct. 5, 2026 - Five Slovak students won gold, silver and bronze medals at the 19th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA).^[1] The competition was held in Hanoi from 25 September to 5 October^[2] and drew 307 students from 64 countries,^[3] the largest IOAA so far by participation.^[4] Organisers awarded 51 gold, 48 silver and 60 bronze medals and 22 honourable mentions.^[5] Iran and South Korea each won five golds,^[6] host Vietnam won six golds,^[7] and India won four golds and a silver.^[8] Contestants are judged on theory, observation and data analysis, weighted 50%, 25% and 25%.^[9] Space Nugget.
