SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, Oct. 28, 2026 - A student engineering team has been awarded a $50,000 grant for their proposed lunar construction technology project.[1] The winning design is a reusable system for building infrastructure towers on the lunar surface. The project is intended to lower operating costs for future space missions.[2] Space Nugget. Lunar surface towers lift communications equipment, solar arrays and science instruments above the fine abrasive surface dust that damages hardware.
