All black holes, regardless of mass, launch jets when their accretion rate falls to roughly 2% of the Eddington limit, an international team co-led by Andrew Mummery and Adelle Goodwin reports in Nature Astronomy.[3] The finding, published Sept. 21, gives astrophysicists a single rule for an event that had appeared to depend on a hole's size and environment.[4]
