KYIV, Ukraine, Oct. 16, 2026 - SpaceX has restored Starlink service in Ukraine. [1] Temporary access restrictions on the SpaceX Starshield system were active 14 and 15 October 2026. During this period, Ukrainian military drone operations were disrupted, resulting in lost aircraft and failed missions. [2] Ukraine launched a drone attack on the Moscow region after regaining access to the satellite communications system. [3] Space Nugget. Satellite internet constellations such as Starlink use thousands of satellites in low orbit, a few hundred kilometres up, so signals travel a short distance and arrive with little delay. Because each satellite is overhead for only minutes, the network hands users from one satellite to the next, and the operator can switch service on or off for whole regions from the ground.
