CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., Oct. 23, 2026 - NASA has stated the first Artemis astronaut lunar landing may occur as early as 2028.

NASA held a news conference on Friday to publicly detail revised Artemis Program lunar landing plans. Under the revised plans, the Orion spacecraft will dock with SpaceX Starship in high-Earth orbit before travelling to the Moon.

Blue Origin's mission architecture will use four New Glenn rocket launches with no on-orbit spacecraft refueling. The company's Blue Moon lander may rendezvous with the Orion spacecraft in low lunar orbit.

NASA will host an additional public news conference on the Artemis moon missions from Florida.
