NASA teams at Kennedy Space Center stacked four of five SLS solid rocket booster segments for the Artemis III mission inside the Vehicle Assembly Building on September 7.

The work left only the forward assemblies to complete each booster stack, moving the heavy-lift vehicle closer to readiness for the lunar landing mission.

While the Artemis program advances on the ground, other NASA assets remain active in space. Astronaut Don Pettit grew a purple potato in orbit aboard the International Space Station during Expedition 72.

The agency's Deep Space Network continues to support more than 40 spacecraft with commands, navigation, and data return.

Separately, the Hubble Space Telescope captured images of Saturn's southern pole, where astronomers discovered a 10-sided atmospheric wave.
