SpaceX booster B1067 completed its 36th landing while China's LandSpace achieved its first land-based orbital recovery.
SpaceX booster B1067 completed its 36th controlled landing on July 9, 2026, marking a major extension of the vehicle's operational life.
Space Daily reports that the Falcon 9 first stage has now launched and landed 36 times in approximately five years. This performance far exceeds SpaceX's original public ambition for the Falcon 9 Block 5, which was set for a first stage to manage at least ten flights without major refurbishment.
Separately, China's private space company LandSpace successfully recovered the first stage of its Zhuque-3 rocket after an orbital launch on August 19. The Times Of India notes that the booster landed on a designated site in Gansu.
This event marked China's first successful land-based recovery of an orbital-class rocket by a private company. It follows a previous success in July where a rocket stage was recovered using a net on a sea platform.
