SpaceX announced on August 25 that it will build a $100 billion facility in Louisiana to launch Starship super rockets developed at Starbase, Texas.

The new base, named Starbase Louisiana, will be located in Vermilion Parish on the state's coast. SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell said the second campus will eventually launch thousands of Starship flights a year.

The facility is designed to support increased launches to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and beyond. SpaceX and Louisiana officials confirmed the plan to invest the capital in the new site on August 25, 2026.
